Madonne Ashwin’s “Maaveeran” offers a unique blend of humor, fantasy, and social commentary that breathes life into a fairly routine plot. This film takes the audience on a journey where a cowardly cartoonist unexpectedly finds himself taking on a corrupt politician with the guidance of a cartoon action figure.

“Maaveeran” starts with the government’s gentrification efforts, which displace a slum-dwelling community into poorly built flats.
